| To
start off this 3 part meal replacement supplement review series,
we first take a look at Myoplex Deluxe from EAS. It's not too far
fetched to say that the Myoplex line of meal replacement powder
from EAS is one the most popular among bodybuilders. This is true
for nutrition contents, and as well for taste and selection of flavors.
Myoplex Meal Replacement Powder Taste Test
First let's take a look at the flavors offer by
EAS - after all, most of us want good taste shakes on top of the
proteins. :) Myoplex offer 3 basic flavors: chocolate cream, strawberry
cream, and vanilla cream. (You can also get a variety pack.) Kudos
to EAS for making an outstanding flavors meal replacement powder.
All 3 flavors taste great! I'm not a big fan of chocolate or strawberry,
so vanilla cream is my choice. But for those who love chocolate
and strawberry, you'll enjoy those flavors as well. EAS recently
introduce several new flavors, I haven't tried them myself, but
I haven't heard much praise for their taste either...
I recommend you use a blender to make your shake
- you'll really enjoy the consistency of the shake. It's rather
thick, so I don't recommend leaving it for too long before drinking
it, or you'll be spooning it out. :) If you're going to mix it in
a cup, I recommend filling the cup with some milk first, and then
dump the powder in slowly and mix. If you do it the other way around,
you'll end up with a big glob at the bottom.
Inside the Myoplex Meal Replacement Supplement
Okay, let's get to the good stuff - inside the
meal replacement supplement. In terms of powder quality wise, Myoplex
isn't top of the line, but it's quite good. Let's take a look at
what's in one serving. (Each box you buy comes with 20 packets.)
Each serving gives you 42 grams of protein, 300 calories, 2 grams
fat, and 25 grams carbs. I won't list the whole lot here - just
too many. These are pretty standard, and give you a good amount
of protein and nutrition.
One thing you should know though, is that Myoplex
has a lot of 'fillers' such as artificial flavors, hydrogenated
oils, vitamins, corn syrup and a bunch of other stuff. These don't
do much for you nutrition wise, they're meant to help out with the
taste. If you read our review
on the ISOPURE meal replacement, you'll see that it has very
little 'fillers'.
The Myoplex meal replacement powder tend to cost
a few bucks more than other brands, simply because EAS is a brand
name. We definitely think its worth the investment at around $50
to $65. When you think about it, that's around 2 bucks for a protein
packed, tasty meal. :) |
